Phrozen T-Plate Upgrade Kit
Rated with 4 out of 5 stars.
This is the way the Sonic Mini 4K should have been built from the start! The fit and finish of the parts is great, although there are NO instructions supplied, and there aren't (as of this writing) any online, either, so I hope you're good at figuring things out.
Looking at the pictures, I had thought that this kit would convert the SM4K to dual linear rails like the SM8K, but that isn't the case. I'm not entirely sure what the difference in the rail or the stepper motor is, but they're meant to replace the stock parts, not supplement them. I assume they're "more betterer" in some way. The linear rail block is larger, to facilitate a 4-hole mounting for the T-plate, and the plate itself is a big, chunky boy with pretty much zero flex given.
My install was largely a precautionary measure, as I hadn't really had much problem with lines in my prints. Therefore, I can't really speak to whether the kit actually IMPROVED my printer. It looks like it SHOULD be better... and if I believe hard enough, it has to be so, right?
That caveat in place, it went together relatively easily, and the plate seems much more sturdy than stock. It might actually be a bit noisier for some reason, but I'm assuming the noise is a by-product of a stronger stepper motor. Was this rating helpful? (17) (0)
