These coated brass nozzles have a nickel coating to protect them from corrosion, erosion and abrasion. With a nickel coating, the nozzles are more wear-resistant and have a lower coefficient of friction, which enables faster material feed and prevents materials from sticking to the nozzle surface.
Using different materials with the same nozzle leads to deposits in the nozzle which can cause blockages. It is therefore recommended to change the nozzle when changing materials.

Absolutely! This depends on what you're printing. There are a wide variety of nozzles available. Standard brass nozzles are great for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU and many other filaments however they are not suitable for abrasive filament like stone, wood, metal fill, glow in the dark, glass or carbon fibre filaments. For these, we would recommend a strong durable nozzle like a coated or plated nozzle. For even higher strength a hardened steel nozzle is suitable, we would recommend the use of a silicone sock with steel and it would not be the perfect choice for lower temperature filaments like PLA as it has a rather low thermal conductivity. For ultimate strength there are plasma coated nozzles like Zodiac nozzles or the e3D nozzle X. These are almost indestructable.
The Bondtech DDS uses a V6 nozzle so basically any V6 nozzle is suitable, it doesn't have to be a Bondtech or e3D nozzle, we have tons that are suitable for the V6, just type in "V6 Nozzle" in our search bar :)
