E-Steps (Marlin) or Rotation Distance (Klipper) are the number of steps or distance that a stepper motor in the extruder needs to move so that a certain amount of filament can be extruded. The extruder must be calibrated from time to time to ensure that there is no over- or under-extrusion and thus unsightly prints.
