I am writing this review from the point of view of owning both the anycubic Air Pure and the Elegoo Mini Air Purifier - I originally thought they were the same product repackaged with different branding, which the 3D printing market is more guilty of than any other market Iâve ever seen⊠but theyâre not.
Pros of the Elegoo
Has a two spare filters in the box
Does the job - it works.
Cons of the Elegoo
Uses USB Micro Type B?? Itâs not 2001. Who has a USB Micro cable in their drawer? It comes with one, but it would have annoyed me in 2001 because it was ALWAYS the budget choice, it was designed to be, the connectors, sockets and cables always break. It is unforgivable to put type B micro USB on any device in 2015⊠let alone 2023
LED indicator controllers are missing some code! They could really do with an âonâ state (it can turn green⊠why is it not on or at least flash when you turn on?) I should not have to take them outside into a quiet area to know if theyâre on or off.
Doesnât always tell you itâs fully charged and sometimes appears to just carry on âchargingâ while drawing a trickle amount.
Included cable is a poorly rated throw away - Ie: takes 6-8 hours to charge even if you have it plugged into a fast charger - again, not 1997. Buying a decent USB Micro B cable (if you can find one!) replacement is a must.
Conclusion
Considering the similar price, I see NO reason to ever buy the elegoo one over anycubics, theyâre different products that do the same thing, but in my opinion, one was tested in the real world⊠one wasnât and as a result, Elegooâs is a poorly designed and frankly a bad product and Anycubicâs is a good, well designed product.Was this rating helpful? Disappointed
I was led to believe these devices were replacements for the plug-in filter for the Saturn 3 Ultra.
Except they are not.
They are a standalone USB device with a socket rather than a plug, and are not compatible.
I'm sure they do a good job if you have a non-Elegoo printer, but are no use to me. I'll be asking for a refund.
