Description

The TPU Feed Assist Module by Bambu Lab has been designed to solve the typical challenges associated with printing flexible materials. Due to the high elasticity and friction of TPU, inconsistent material flow is a common issue. This module ensures a stable, controlled supply and improves print quality significantly.

The TPU Feed Assist Module actively supports filament transport and reduces resistance within the feed path. This ensures that TPU is fed evenly into the hotend, leading to more precise and reliable printing results. Additionally, the Feed Assist Module stabilises the entire process and minimises problems such as jamming, grinding or uneven extrusion.

Tip: With this module, you are no longer dependent on a specific spool position. Whether you're using a side-mounted dry box or a flexible filament guide, you can customise your setup as needed without compromising on print quality.

Important Note:

The product includes core components such as extruder parts, the main control board and connectors. The housing and frame must be 3D printed and assembled by the user.

The module must be used with an external spool holder. The AMS does not support automatic loading or unloading in this setup.

For optimal results, the filament can be routed via the AMS HT TPU outlet to keep it dry.

Flexible installation (left or right):

  • Right-side installation: The left hotend remains fully usable (e.g. for PLA support material during TPU prints).
  • Left-side installation: Dual-hotend printing is not possible, as vertical movement can interfere with the TPU feed and increase the risk of clogging.

FAQs: TPU Feed Assist Module

Can the TPU Feed Assist Module be connected to the left hotend?

Yes, this can be done, but printing in this case is only possible with a single material. Mixed printing with two hotends will not work. This is because the left hotend has to move up and down continuously during multi-material printing, which can easily lead to blockages with TPU filament.

Can the right hotend print support material if the Assist Module is connected to the left hotend?

Yes, the right hotend can print rigid support material without affecting the printing of flexible filament on the left hotend.

Does the printer need to be updated to a specific firmware version to use the module?

No, a firmware update is not required. The module is simply powered by the printer and does not communicate with it directly.

Can the module be connected to the 6-pin port of the AMS if there are no other free ports available?

Yes. A 6-pin to 4-pin adapter is included, allowing the module to be connected to the 6-pin port of the AMS and supplied with power.

What is the softest TPU filament hardness supported by the module?

The module supports TPU filament down to a hardness of 85A. Softer filament may become tangled inside the module.

What is the highest TPU filament hardness supported by the module?

The maximum supported hardness is 95A-HF. The module is designed specifically for flexible filaments. Filaments harder than 95A-HF may cause material abrasion and are therefore not recommended.

Does this module have to be used together with the TPU High Flow Hotend?

No, this is not necessary. The TPU High Flow Hotend is only compatible with printers from the H2D series and must be installed on the right hotend. The TPU Feed Assist Module also works independently, although even better print results can be achieved when used together with the high-flow hotend.
