Description

MetalFil ™ Ancient Bronze is an incredible new filament, based on PLA, containing about 80% copper powder.
The high content in bronze powder enables all FDM 3D printer users to create bronze objects that are almost indistinguishable from genuine bronze objects.

Due to the extremely high bronze filling, the MetalFil ™ Ancient Bronze has an incredibly high density of 3.4 g / cm³.
Unlike other metal filaments, the MetalFil ™ by FormFutura can be printed perfectly with almost any hot-end with a 0.4mm nozzle.
Direct Drive and Bowden extruders retract settings can also be used.

MetalFil ™ is a very simple printable filament and ensures stable printing results. Thus, the filament is also suitable for beginners.

Post processing

Polishing, brushing or sanding:
After printing MetalFil ™ can easily be reworked using a brass brush or sandpaper. Sanding the object increases the visibility of copper powder.

Once MetalFil ™ is sanded or brushed, you can polish the print object with a white polishing paste. This gives the component a natural and incredible shine.

Patina effect:
To accelerate the natural aging (patina) of a component, the 3D component can be treated with an ammonia and soda mixture.
This gives it a beautiful, aged blue weathering effect.

Coating:

In order to maintain the shine, you can use wax the component or treat it with XTC-3D.

Abrasive material:
Please note that the MetalFil ™ filaments contain a very high concentration of metal powder, thereby increasing the nozzle wear. In general, the nozzle wears out much faster than normal filaments.
