Snapmaker Top Cover, U1

The Snapmaker Top Cover is a chamber enclosure that thermally seals the build area, giving access to a wider range of demanding materials. It is designed for users who want to print not only standard filaments but also high-temperature materials such as ABS, ASA, PA or PC reliably, while maintaining dimensional stability and a quieter printing environment.

Keeps heat inside the build chamber

Thanks to its enclosed design, the Top Cover uses the heat generated by the heated bed and retains it within the build chamber via an internal air circulation system. At an ambient temperature of 25 °C and a bed temperature of 100 °C, the chamber can reach up to 50 °C within 30 minutes.

Automatic airflow control depending on material & active cooling for low-temperature filaments

When used with Snapmaker Orca, the printer automatically detects which airflow mode is appropriate for the selected filament: internal circulation to retain heat when printing high-temperature materials, and external circulation to remove heat when printing heat-sensitive materials. This largely eliminates the need for manual adjustment.

When printing materials such as PLA, TPU or PVA, the Top Cover automatically switches to external circulation mode. The exhaust fan draws in ambient air from below and directs warm chamber air outwards. This keeps the chamber cool enough for prints to cool cleanly and retain sharp detail.

Three-stage air filtration for cleaner air during printing

In internal circulation mode, the Top Cover filters the air in three stages: a G3 pre-filter, coconut-shell activated carbon and an H12 HEPA filter work together to reduce odours, VOCs and fine particles. This is particularly useful when printing engineering filaments, helping to create a noticeably cleaner printing environment.

Less warping, more stable layer adhesion

The warmer, more stable environment slows the rapid cooling of freshly printed layers. This reduces warping and improves layer adhesion when printing materials such as ABS, ASA, PA and PC. PETG also benefits from the warmer chamber and is noticeably less prone to distortion.

Quieter and more protected printing

In addition to its thermal benefits, the enclosure reduces operating noise to below 50 dB and helps protect the build area from dust. The lightly tinted transparent panels match the smoked-glass appearance of the Snapmaker U1's glass door while still allowing a clear view of the print in progress.
