Description

3D printing material for high temperatures

Spectrum PA6 CF15 is a black high-temperature PA6-based material that has been modified to provide better performance. The carbon fibre filling significantly increases the mechanical strength of the underlying polyamide.

The main filament-specific benefits of PA6 CF15 are moisture absorption reduced by half and four times less water absorption time compared to pure PA6. In addition, no heated chamber is required for printing.

The material is compatible with the support materials HIPS and PVOH. In addition, Spectrum PA6 CF15 features an exceptionally low linear shrinkage (up to 0.1%), a high deformation temperature (240 °C) and a low coefficient of thermal expansion.

Key Features of Spectrum PA6 CF15

  • PA6 base with carbon fibres
  • High mechanical strength
  • High-temperature resistance (short-term up to 180 °C, long-term up to 150 °C)
  • Heat resistance - HDT A 240 °C (ISO 75)
  • Water absorption below 0.3% (23 °C / 24 h)
  • Robust layer adhesion
  • High creep resistance
  • Abrasion resistant
  • High hardness and rigidity of the models
  • Low shrinkage

Applications of Spectrum PA6 CF15

Models made with Spectrum PA6 CF15 allow long-term operation at elevated temperatures up to 150 °C (20,000 h) and short-term up to 180 °C (max. 200 h).

  • Functional prototyping
  • Print items that work under real-world conditions
  • Production tools
  • Manufacture of parts for end use
  • Manufacture of wheels and racks, scrapers and guide rollers working at elevated temperatures
  • All types of sealing rings and plates with increased chemical and corrosion resistance

Printing & storage of Spectrum PA6 CF15 filament

In order to achieve the attractive properties of PA6 CF15 from a technical point of view, care must be taken to store the material properly. Storage in a dry and dark place with a humidity of less than 15% is ideal.

In order to get the best possible parameters of the model, it is recommended to dry the material before use.

Note: Due to the carbon fibres in the material, it is recommended to use nozzles with a larger diameter than the standard 0.4mm. Because PA6 CF15 is an abrasive material that causes increased wear of the nozzle and extruder gear. Hardened steel nozzles or ruby nozzles are recommended for printing.
